Kalgoorlie revhead-supplier-turned-eco-warrior Matt Birney is feeling pretty pleased with how his latest venture Carbon Conscious Ltd is capturing the attention of the market where its seeking $8 million. The former state Liberal leader is chairman of the Subiacobased environmentally-pitched producer of carbon credits through the planting of mallee eucalypt trees throughout the Wheatbelt. The company is closely associated with managed investment scheme project manager Australian Agricultural Contracts Ltd, which has a corporate share-farming agreement between investors and about 115 WA grain farmers. Mr Birney, who won’t stand for re-election to parliament, told The Note that interest was especially notable online where 10,000 copies of the prospectus had been downloaded – more than 10 times what its promoters would have expected. Paperless prospectuses are a great innovation, let’s hope they aren’t all being printed out at home!
