PERTH radio station 6PR is set to relaunch with a new look corporate image to attract a new, younger demographic to the station.
6PR media liaison for programs Cheri Gardiner said there had been little change to the 6PR corporate image for some years now.
“We’re really vamping up 6PR’s general image, which hasn’t changed in a long time,” Ms Gardiner said.
“It’s been five or six years since the logo has been updated...this will give the station a fresh new look for the new century,”
6PR has worked with the Perth’s Telos Image Development to devise a new corporate image for the station, and Perth advertising agency Vinten Browning have presented some preliminary submissions for advertising.
“Telos have prepared a new corporate image and it’s under consideration,” Ms Gardiner said.
Once the new corporate image has been finalised, 6PR plans to relaunch the station and the new breakfast line-up of Basil Zempilas and Adrian Barich.
The station believes the new breakfast team will attract a younger demographic to 6PR, best known for its talkback content.
6PR has also appointed John Solvander from Melbourne’s 3AW as the new program director.
Ms Gardiner, who was previously working as program director for 6PR, will move into a media liaison role for programs.
This will allow Mr Solvander to keep his “ear” on the radio without worrying about marketing and media issues, Ms Gardiner said.
Mr Solvander will focus on the programming.
