Surveyor Fugro Spatial Solutions has been awarded a contract to carry out dimensional control surveys at Inpex’s Ichthys LNG project near Darwin.
The contract from main subcontractor JKC Australia LNG, for an undisclosed amount, will run until the end of 2015 and involves surveying in preparation of the installation of LNG plant modules onshore.
Fugro Spatial Solutions business development executive Matthew James said some Fugro workers would be transferred from Chevron Australia’s Gorgon project, while other workers will be hired.
Managing director Bill Jones said the contract award acknowledged Fugro’s experience gained from carrying out previous dimensional control surveys at onshore LNG facilities.
"Fugro’s strength as an established provider of dimensional control surveys to the oil and gas market, along with our ability to service clients globally through an experienced and mobile workforce gave Fugro an advantage to secure this contract,” he said.
Fugro Spatial Solutions head company, Dutch multinational Fugro bought Nedlands-based subsea engineering firm Advanced Geomechanics in November last year.
