Engineering contractor Calibre Group’s Victoria-based subsidiary Brown Consulting has expanded into the west, acquiring Perth-based structural and civil engineering firm E-Tec Consultants.
E-Tec, which has 21 employees, has forecast financial year 2013 revenue of $4.4 million and holds a strong pipeline of work in hand.
Brown, which was acquired by Calibre in 2011, is seeking to create growth by focusing on growing E-Tec’s civil capabilities in WA’s urban development market.
Brown will add E-Tec’s staff to its 300-plus workforce across offices in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT and Singapore.
E-Tec’s existing management team, headed by managing director Brett Lucchessi, will remain with the company.
Brown managing director Gary Spence said the acquisition would address a missing piece in the company's national representation.
"Brown Consulting has been looking to expand into Western Australia for some time, but it was critical that we found the right partner," he said.
"In E-Tec we found a firm which not only has a similar culture but has a complementary service offering."
At 10:15AM, WST, Calibre shares were steady at 36 cents.
