Scudamore special adviser to Lazard
International financial advisory and asset management firm Lazard has appointed Steve Scudamore as a special adviser to its Australian corporate advisory business, based in Perth and led by director Trent Lisle since opening in 2010. Mr Scudamore departed KPMG earlier this year after eight years as chairman of the WA office and more than 20 years as a senior partner. Mr Scudamore is currently chairman of Amana Living, a director of MDA Insurance, and was last week appointed as an independent non-executive director of Aquila Resources.
Muirhead, Dowling to lead MRA
Former Tourism WA chief executive Richard Muirhead has been appointed chair of the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority, replacing inaugural chair Eric Lumsden, who was in the role for one year. Planning Minister John Day has also announced that former Ernst & Young managing partner and current Atlas Iron director Jeff Dowling will take on the role of deputy chairperson, while financial planner Nick Bruining will also join the board.
WA health chief resigns
Health Department director general Kim Snowball has tendered his resignation, citing personal reasons. Mr Snowball will finish as director general of the department in March upon the completion of three months’ notice. Mr Snowball was appointed to the role for five years in 2010.
Atkins leads liquor licensing review
ANZ Bank WA chairman and former Freehills managing partner John Atkins will head up a review of WA’s current liquor licensing system and Sunday trading regulations for hospitality operators, as part of a comprehensive review of the Liquor Control Act. Racing and Gaming Minister Terry Waldron named Mr Atkins as chairman of the review committee last week. Chamber of Minerals and Energy director Nicole Roocke and prominent regional community leader Ian Stanley were also appointed to the committee.
Metals X reorganises board
Following the completion of a merger with Westgold Resources and the establishment of a gold division with two projects, tin producer Metals X has reorganised its board and management team. Former non-executive chairman and Metals X co-founder Peter Newton has returned to the same role, after a three-year absence. Co-founder and incumbent chair Peter Cook has been appointed as executive director and chief executive officer, while current managing director Warren Hallam will step into the role of an executive director. Scott Huffadine, who was recently appointed following the Westgold merger, will remain as an executive director, while executive director Dean Will will step down from the board but remain in a senior executive management role. Fiona Van Maanen will take on the role of chief financial officer.
