THE RECENT 2000 Asia Pacific Information Technology & Telecommunications Awards gala presentation evening yielded more than a few surprise wins.
Online commerce solution provider INature Australia Pty Ltd pipped stiff competition to win the Best New Innovation in Games/ Arts/Media/Interactive Marketing category, beating Pretzel Logic’s RT Films web site and Murdoch University’s interactive marketing curriculum.
SystemArt’s OnLine Customer First entry beat industry favourite Pretzel Logic in the Best Business Innovation category.
Pretzel Logic had three nominations in this category for its RAC, Chamber of Commerce & Industry and B Digital web sites.
Pretzel Logic managing director Steve Pretzel said this was the first year the company had entered the awards, achieving 25 per cent of nominations.
“We ended up with nominations in just about every category, which was particularly pleasing considering the high calibre of work that is emanating from WA companies,” Mr Pretzel said.
He said the entire administration system of Pretzel’s STW9 Post-cards WA web site was a key factor in winning the Best New Innovation in Tourism Award.
“All the content is stored in a database and the Postcards team can easily add or edit stories and run competitions without needing any knowledge of coding,” Mr Pretzel said.
The most ecstatic winners of the evening were Nedlands-based Aussiehome.com who won the Best New Innovation in E-Commerce category.
Co-founder Charlie Gunning-ham said the win was astounding considering the tough competition.
Aussiehome.com beat Pretzel Logic’s RAC web site entry and the high-profile nominee Nedkelly.com.au.
