The one-day workshop is designed for managers, human resources professionals and other employees with responsibilities in the field of human resources.
The workshop is divided into four topic areas; beginning with an introduction and overview of the employment life cycle and key legal issues during this time, then follows Contracts of Employment, Industrial Agreements and Policies, Key Legal Issues in Performance Management and Disciplinary Action, and lastly Termination of Employment – Potential Risks.
The introductory section of the workshop will address issues that can arise in the recruitment process such as discrimination and misrepresentation, how contract law issues impact upon recruitment, how unfair contract and unfair dismissal laws impact on recruitment, and references, where defamation, privacy and confidentiality are concerned.
Contracts of Employment, Industrial Agreements and Policies will examine why contracts of employment are so important and ensuring they are enforceable.
Key Legal Issues in Performance Management and Disciplinary Action will cover similarities and difference between performance management and disciplinary action, the roles, responsibilities and liability of managers and the key legal issues when employees claim stress related illness resulting from performance management or disciplinary action.
Lastly Termination of Employment – Potential Risks will look at the impact of unfair contract and unfair dismissal laws, the impact of principles of contact law and how these might be managed and the outcomes in recent case studies.
