Investing in Resources Seminar
On Saturday March 20 the Association of Mining and Exploration Companies is holding a free Investing in Resources Seminar at the Novotel Langley Hotel between 8:30am and 1pm.
The seminar is a unique opportunity to talk directly with senior executives of four well known publicly listed companies in which attendees might be considering investing in and to question them on a one-to-one basis.
Resource companies that will be presenting their projects and future plans include Breakaway Resources Limited, Consolidated Minerals Limited, Gindalbie Gold NL and, Reed Resources Limited.
Representatives from Montague Stockbrokers will also be providing a market overview and distributing a glossary of geological and corporate terminology in order to provide attendees with a better understanding of the sector.

Research & Development Seminar
Hayes Knight GTO in conjunction with Export Solutions is holding a breakfast seminar titled Government R&D and Export Market Development Grant Funding on Tuesday March 23, at Technology Park, Bentley.
The seminar has been designed to provide participants with tips, tricks and practical advice from some of Perth’s leading experts on how to get the most out of their research and development and exporting activities.
Topics that will be covered during the seminar include an outline of what make a good application for the Research and Development Start Grant; recent changes and what a company should be doing to maximise its Export Market Development Grant benefits; and an outline of the Research and Development Tax Concessions Program and maximising entitlements.

Introduction to Market Research
On Tuesday March 23 the Small Business Development Corporation is running a workshop titled Introduction to Market Research at Level 1, 553 Hay Street, Perth.
The workshop has been designed to provide small business operators with inexpensive and valuable information on market research as a fundamental part of the business planning process that will enable them to understand and implement new ideas in their own business.
Areas that will be covered during the workshop include techniques for identifying potential customers; understanding existing customers better; setting realistic targets; developing effective strategies and, identifying business opportunities.

Breakfast with Paul D’Arcy
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia is conducting a breakfast presentation featuring Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre chief executive officer Paul D’Arcy, on Wednesday March 24 at the Kings Park Function Centre.
Mr D’Arcy brings more than three decades of experience in the convention and exhibition industry to his new role and most recently was the deputy chief executive officer for the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The presentation will focus on the background of the centre, the status of the centre today, marketing of the centre, the impact of the centre on the local economy, and the challenges Mr D’Arcy faces as the chief executive officer of the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The seminar will feature presentations from Automotive Holdings Group director Michelle Wheatley Harris who will share the story of WA’s largest automotive retailer; Commonwealth Bank’s Dana Slater and Terry Needs who will lead a discussion from a banking perspective on traditional sources of funding for growth as well as exploring new techniques; and Bruce McMenamin will explore the issues surrounding growth with reference to family dynamics and the planning, modelling, structuring and strategy implementation of growth.

Corporate Disclosure Seminar
Curtin Business School in conjunction with CPA Australia and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission is conducting a seminar titled New Expectations on Corporate Disclosure: An Asia-Pacific Perspective, on Wednesday March 24 at the offices of CPA Australia.
The seminar will feature a presentation from Australian Securities and Investments Commission commissioner Professor Berna Collier, who will speak about recent changes in corporate disclosure requirements and provide some insights into likely developments in the coming year.
