Auditor General Report
The WA Auditor General has released a report reviewing the processes and practices used by the Department of Health to fund not-for-profit organisations for the provision of services.
‘Contracting Not-For-Profit Organisations for Delivery of Health Services’ presents findings on six Department of Health operational areas - Aged and Continuing Care, Resource Management Directorate, Office of Mental Health, Office of Aboriginal Health, Public Health, and Office of the Chief Medical Officer.
These six account for 88 per cent of $260 million of not-for-profit organisation funding.

Busselton wetlands
A draft conservation strategy for the Busselton wetlands has been released for public comment until June 6.
The strategy is available from www.planning.wa.gov.au, the Western Australian Planning Commission in Bunbury, the Department of Conservation and Land Management in Busselton, and the GeoCatch Network Centre in Busselton.

Car rental review
The WA Government is inviting comment on the car rental industry, as part of a national regulatory review.

Coastal Planning Policy
With 80 per cent of WA’s population living within 30 kilometres of the coast, the WA Government has produced a state-wide blueprint for coastal planning and development.
The ‘Coastal Statement of Planning Policy’ will be implemented through local government town planning schemes, and regional and local strategies, and a Coastal Planning and Co-ordination Council will oversee strategy development.
This council will be a statutory committee of the Western Australian Planning Commission and chaired by an independent expert to be appointed to the commission.

Mandatory Renewable Energy Target
Submissions are invited for the Federal Government-initiated independent review of the operation of the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000, more commonly referred to as the Mandatory Renewable Energy Target.
