Aquaculture funding
The Aquaculture Development Council has granted $20,000 to Murdoch University, to establish a Fish Health Unit to teach special techniques to veterinary students.
Foreshore funding
The Swan River Trust has allocated $17,000 for river foreshore restoration work at the Norm McKenzie Reserve in East Fremantle, and $8,000 for river wall repair works at the JH Abrahams Reserve in Crawley.

Marine research
The Strategic Research Fund for the Marine Environment has awarded $250,000 to a project which will look at the distribution and abundance of sponge fauna around the Recherche Archipelago off Esperance.
This study will be conducted by researchers from the University of Western Australia, WA Museum, CSIRO and the Department of Conservation and Land Management.
The grant is part of a $2 million funding allocation from the SRFME for collaborative research projects in marine science.
The SRFME is a joint venture between the WA Government and the CSIRO.
Regional Investment Fund
Under the Regional Development Scheme, 22 Mid-West region projects and 22 Wheatbelt projects will receive funding assistance from the RIF.
The combined total value of these grants, approved by the Mid West and Wheatbelt Development Commissions, is $800,000.
The RIF is also contributing $150,000 for a 60 metre pedestrian suspension bridge across the Preston River in Donnybrook, a feature of the $1.5 million Preston River Community Park redevelopment project.
A $1.3 million RIF grant is going to Cossack, to upgrade water, power and sewerage services and renovate heritage buildings.
The first Pilbara port, Cossack was originally named Tien Tsin Harbour in 1863, after the first ship to visit the port.

Sporting grant
The Kalgoorlie-Boulder Development Fund is contributing $55,000 to the WA Indigenous Sporting Foundation to assist the Goldfields Football Academy.
The Goldfields Football Academy operates under the auspices of the Clontarf Football Academy.
