Our guest speakers have built established careers across a range of sectors including mining, energy, the arts and sport, all playing crucial roles in shaping WA.

As Minister for Mines and Petroleum, Energy and Industrial Relations, the Hon. Bill Johnston MLA is a political leader for one of the state’s largest industries. Mr Johnston has also been a member of the Economics and Industry Standing Committee and was deputy chair of the former inquiry into domestic gas prices. 

Bourby Webster has propelled innovation in the arts in her mission for orchestral music to reach new audiences as founder and chief executive of the Perth Symphony Orchestra. A violist herself, Ms Webster is also behind the Arts Leaders Collective, which supports leaders of new arts companies. In 2019, Ms Webster was named a Western Australian of the Year. 

Chief executive of Roy Hill since 2012 Barry Fitzgerald has helped navigate the successful mining company through several economic cycles.  Roy Hill is an independent iron ore operation with West Australian majority ownership, chaired by an Australian, Mrs Gina Rinehart. Previously CITIC Pacific Mining chief executive, Mr Fitzgerald has additionally held senior positions at BHP, Henry Walker Eltin and Simon Engineering.

Former international cricketer Mike Hussey is a celebrated sporting personality, as well as an ambassador of the Women and Infants Research Foundation and the Starlight Children's Foundation. Mr Hussey ended his professional sports career in 2012 with 22 centuries and is now a Fox Sports Cricket commentator as well as specialist coach in Australia and India.
