Smart share news
SMARTNEWS is a new market intelligence and information service for retail shareholders in public companies.
This information has been traditionally reserved for institutional investors, and at a price. Retail investors can now have real time stock market information delivered direct to their email.
SmartNews director Caroline de Mori said that Australia had 7.2 million retail hareholders – the highest proportion of investors per head of population in the world.
“Traditionally, the cost and resources required for companies to keep retail investors fully informed in a timely manner was prohibitive,” Ms de Mori said.
“But SmartNews’ use of email and the Internet means retail investors can now be told proactively what’s going on in the marketplace in a concise and user friendly format – and it’s free.”
The service is at www.smartnews.com.au

Van Eyk offers direction
VAN EYK Research as launched vaneyk.com, an interactive web site that offers general investors the research previously available only to industry professionals.
Van Eyk Research managing director Stephen van Eyk said the information barrier to the general investor had been broken.
“The site is designed to arm investors with the right investment information to identify credible and competent funds and shares, become more knowledgable about the different investment opportunities available to them, and to develop the right investment strategy to suit their individual needs,” Mr van Eyk said.
“While there is a lot of investment information available to consumers, most of it is ‘mass information’ providing little strategic direction.”
He said van Eyk Research was used by more than 60 per cent of the financial advisory industry.
The site is at www.vaneyk.com.au
