AUSTRALIAN Unity has forged an online partnership with Australia’s top Internet portal. AU now offers home and contents insurance through the telstra.com web site.

A WEB-based e-tailer offers a group-buying program that delivers big discounts on products including sporting goods, electronics, whitegoods, toys, and executive, automotive and luxury items. Shoppers can buy products as individuals or join a group of buyers who have elected to buy an advertised product. The web site is at Bulkbuys.com.au



AOL to enhance site

AUSSIE Online Limited will soon launch a range of value-added applications on its online business and real estate directories, including e-tailing and e-commerce functions, following the release of a new-look site. The site indexes around 1.3 million Australian businesses.



AltaVista goes .au

ALTAVISTA has launched AltaVista Australia at www.altavista.com.au. The new site offers a large index of Australian web sites covering more than 7.5 million pages. Users will be able to access AltaVista’s world index of more than 850 million page , its library of 30 million audio, video and image multimedia files and its free translation service Babel Fish.



Buy cars online

THE world’s largest Internet-based car buying service has been launched at www.autobytel.com.au All vehicles on the site are subjected to a 135-point check and in addition to the standard warranty, the company provides a 72-hour vehicle return policy. More than 50 per cent of all American new vehicle buyers now use the Internet.



New heights

SALES for the past six months at dstore have grown at the phenomenal rate of 1,600 per cent. According to Media Metrix, Sinewave and Red Sheriff results, the dstore.com.au web site is the most trafficked Australian business to consumer e-commerce site.
