iVEC, 'The hub of advanced computing in Western Australia', has announced that it is offering $200 000 in grants for industry and government organisations to apply high performance computing (HPC), visualisation and large scale data store technology. The iVEC grants present a significant opportunity for organisations to experiment with technology that can improve and streamline their business processes.
"These grants provide a unique opportunity for companies, agencies and organisations or even individuals considering a start up business to safely trial, with expert help, the power and capacity of HPC, visualisation, grid and large scale storage", said iVEC Board member, Kevin Chennell.
Mr Chennel, a champion for industry and government uptake of technology added "Previous grants have demonstrated that these technologies can change the way agencies and companies do business and that they can add value and competitiveness. Feedback from the uptake project participants in 2006 indicated that iVEC was easy to deal with, supportive and personal in its approach. I look forward to a wide range of project proposals in this round and encourage innovation and freshness in their design."
iVEC will co-fund several projects, with interested organisations and their partners expected to contribute between $20 000 and $50 000 in cash and a similar figure in-kind. iVEC would match these contributions. Applications close on 19 October 2007 and projects will commence in 2008.
