Wangara-based electronic tagging products manufacturer XTAG Australasia Ltd has acquired neighbouring company SEDCO Communications, in a move the company says will increase its footprint in South East Asia.
SEDCO, a healthcare communications manufacturer, is a leading maker of nurse call products for use in busy hospitals, whereas XTAG's main product is a system designed to prevent the unauthorised removal of infants from maternity wards.
The combined companies will be 100 per cent owned by the Burrell family of Perth. Managing director of the combined group is Mark Burrell.

XTAG Australasia the RFID manufacturer has acquired Perth based SEDCO Communications, the Healthcare Communications manufacturer. The acquisition will strengthen XTAG's footprint in SE Asia, while opening several new lines of business and creating significant opportunities for the merged entities. The acquisition also represents a major opportunity for SEDCO to advance its leadership in Healthcare communications being able to offer Aged Care and Hospital organisations worldwide total emergency communications. The combination of XTAG and SEDCO will create an unparalleled communications platform for Healthcare facilities around the globe.

SEDCO with a successful history going back to 1969 has the largest installed hospital base in Australia, many of those hospitals have been customers for over 20 years. The international division of SEDCO has been growing rapidly with recent multiple large hospital projects being won in India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.
