MORE than 50 per cent of Aust-ralian employers believe the proposed work for the dole scheme for unemployed people up to the age of 40 will be a winner, says the Morgan & Banks Job Index survey.
The index was formulated following a survey of 3,146 organisations.
Morgan & Banks director Charles Kerr said the industries supporting work for the dole schemes included construction and property (57.9 per cent), electronics (56.3 per cent), tourism (57.1 per cent) and utilities (61.9 per cent).
Youth-oriented industries such as advertising, marketing and media sectors believe the scheme will be less inclined to have a positive effect on employment levels.
Mr Kerr said bosses in WA and the Australian Capital Territory placed less store in the scheme as a means of reducing unemployment.
