PERTH business consulting group Manso Consulting has started work on a $14 million bottling plant and wine logistics facility in Vasse. Gavin Cooke from Manso Consulting said the bottling facility would be located in the light industrial precinct at Vasse Newtown and was expected to add 50 per cent to the current bottling-line capacity in the region. “We’re very excited that some prominent wineries have expressed enthusiasm about this project,” he said. “The operation will be accredited to the British Retail Code food safety standard, an important leg-up for producers targeting export markets, especially the European Union.” Mr Cooke said the bottling line would cater for 6,000 bottles an hour, incorporating automated filling, sealing, labelling and packing. The supply of glass, closures, labels, cartons, storage, transport and distribution also would be managed by the business. The planned stage one temperature controlled warehouse is 4,000 square metres with the option to extend to 6,000sq m depending on demand for storage. Mr Cooke said the one-stop-shop would be a major plus for wineries and should be completed by mid-2006.
