Pastoralists and Graziers Association of WA
WESTERN Australian Premier Geoff Gallop needs to seriously consider the consequences of land ownership in this State.
Owning land carries with it immense responsibilities and we have learnt from past experiences just how fragile our landscape is.
We have seen land become non-productive and deteriorate when not managed properly.
Unless the Government is prepared to pour enormous amounts of taxpayers’ funds into protecting its reserves and acquired pastoral and agricultural properties, the environment will deteriorate rapidly.
Farmers and pastoralists return large amounts of their earnings into land care and sustainable agriculture.
These funds will have to be found by the taxpayer if the land is proposed to be given to the various stakeholders and becomes non-productive.
