The Wallabies will play rugby union Test Matches against South Africa and Argentina in Perth over the next three years, under a new deal announced by the state government.
Acting Tourism Minister John Day announced the deal today, which will see the Wallabies play the matches at Patersons Stadium in Subiaco in the expanded Four Nations series from 2012.
Mr Day said the first Perth match would be staged in September 12 when Australia takes on South Africa.
“This is the only time the Springboks play on Australian soil in 2012 so we expect the match to attract interstate and overseas visitors as well as local fans,” he said.
“Rubdy has a stong following in Western Australia and we expect spectators will be threilled to see some of the worl’ds best players in action over the next few years.”
The Wallabies will play Argentina in Perth in 2013 and the Springboks again in 2014.
The deal will also see the British and Irish Lions take on the Western Force as part of their 2013 tour to Australia.
“The British and Irish Lions are one of the most revered teams in world rugby and it will be fantastic to see the team in action in WA against the Western Force,” Mr Day said.
