Western Australia's unemployment rate has risen from 4.1 per cent to 4.2 per cent in February but is still the second lowest rate in the country behind the ACT, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
NSW was the only state where the unemployment rate fell from 5.7 per cent to 5.3 per cent.
Nationally, the unemployment rate fell to 5.2 per cent in February from 5.3 per cent in January on the back of a surge in new job with the ABS reporting total employment grew 25,900 during the month. The number of unemployed people fell 3,700 to 554,100.
There are now 10.058 million Australians in employment while the participation rate stayed steady at 64.4 per cent.
The number of people looking for full-time work, however, fell 2,800 to 394,000 while there was a small fall in those looking for part-time work to 160,000.
The male unemployment rate stayed at 5.2 per cent while the female unemployment rate dropped 0.1 percentage points to 5.2 per cent.
The unemployment rate rose in Queensland (to 5.4 per cent from 5.3 per cent), South Australia (to 5.2 per cent from 5.0 per cent), Tasmania (to 6.7 per cent from 6.6 per cent), the Northern Territory (to 7.1 per cent from 6.6 per cent) while it stayed steady at 5.4 per cent in Victoria and at 3.3 per cent in the ACT.
