WORK was due to start on the $8.7 million upgrade of Western Australia’s regional airports, planned by the state and federal governments, this week 10 years ago. Deputy premier Hendy Cowan and transport minister John Sharp said the upgrade would target three airports in the state’s South West and terminal and runway facilities would be improved. The aviation industry and local government will contribute towards a combined $15 million upgrade package.
