THE Vasse Felix winery in Margaret River was to receive a $2.2 million injection of production equipment by owner Janet Holmes a Court, this week 10 years ago. John Holland, a construction company owned by the Holmes a Court company Heytesbury, was about to build a new processing plant and install new tanks to hold wine produced from up to 15 hectares of grape vines. Vasse Felix was the first commercial vineyard established in the region and expected to be crushing about 1,000 tonnes of grapes a year by 1998, an increase in production by 25 per cent. A Heytesbury spokesperson said the company hoped to expand export wine sales and was making exclusive niche marketing arrangements in Asia.
