Western Australia has recorded 75 new cases of COVID-19 overnight, including a significant jump in the number of community cases.
This afternoon, WA Health confirmed the state recorded 62 new local cases, one of whom is understood to be from a mystery source.
The new cases include one from the state’s South West, who is understood to have been infectious while in the community.
Of the 75 new cases, 13 were returned interstate travellers.
Today’s figures take the total number of active cases in WA to 509.
Two more aged care facilities in Mandurah have recorded COVID-19 cases since the outbreak at Juniper’s Bentley facility last week, with staff and residents being tested and access to the facilities restricted.
Meanwhile, two more primary schools have reportedly recorded positive COVID cases, including Doubleview Primary School and Allanson Primary School near Collie.
But the number of potential public exposure sites across WA remains at 52, with no new sites recorded since last Thursday.
Meanwhile, the rate of third dose vaccinations for those aged 16 and over has reached 51.3 per cent today, with 94.6 per cent of Western Australians aged 12 and over now fully vaccinated.
A total of 98.5 per cent of those aged 12 and over have now received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
