Further charges are likely to be made against two senior public servants, charged with stealing up to $1.2 million from the Department of Industry and Resources.
Major Fraud Squad investigators have charged Roy Chapman, a level nine public servant and the manager of the WA Technology Park in Bentley, and Joy Johnston, an acting director with the Department of Planning and Infrastructure.
"It will be alleged that the offences occurred between 2004 and 2008 within the Department of Industry and Resources," a police statement said.
"The two have used their positions within the department to steal up to 1.2 million dollars.
"Further inquiries are continuing into this matter and it is likely that more charges will be laid against the pair."
It is believed the charges relate to management at the Bentley Technology Park.
In a statement, DoIR said Mr Chapman and another senior officer within the department were stood down in early September while claims of misconduct were investigated.
DoIR director general Anne Nolan said the department was working closely with police to assist with their investigations.
Meantime, DoIR said it was not in negotiations to reinstate international management company Zerkine as Technology Park managers.
The department said the company's contract has expired and a new tender was issued to Cluster.
DoIR said it will issue the tender for the park's management next year.
Mr Chapman and Ms Johnston will appear in the Magistrates Court next week.
