Motor vehicle sales in Western Australia have started the year softly in comparison with other states, recording 8.1 per cent growth for January compared to the same month in 2007.
The smaller states and territories, as well as Victoria, all recorded double digit growth although NSW and Queensland fared worse in the first month of the recording period, with 5.7 per cent and 1.2 per cent growth respectively.
However, WA's growth comes on the back of two record years, with 9,650 cars sold in January compared to 8,929 the previous corresponding period.
Toyaota remained the biggest selling manufacturer, almost doubling sales of its nearest competitor, Holden, for the month.
