The work will take place on Agg Road in the Shire of Nannup.
Below is the government's announcement:
A new bridge over the Blackwood River in Western Australia's South-West region will enhance safety for motorists and reduce the need for ongoing repair works.
Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Transport Bill Marmion today announced the awarding of a $3.3million contract to build the new concrete bridge and demolish two existing bridges over the river.
Mr Marmion said Bocol Constructions Pty Ltd would undertake the project, which is on Agg Road in the Shire of Nannup.
"This is an important project which includes the demolition of two bridges that currently have very low load limits," Mr Marmion said.
"The project will improve safety because one of the existing bridges has a four-tonne load limit and the other a zero limit.
"As well as enhancing safety, the new bridge will eliminate the need for major ongoing maintenance works which have been required with the old bridges.
"As a bonus for local businesses, Bocol Constructions Pry Ltd has indicated it will use support from local and regional services to deliver the works."
The contract is scheduled to commence this January with work expected to be completed by July 2009.
The project will be managed by Main Roads Western Australia South-West Region.
