Western Australia has recorded a dip in daily COVID cases, dropping to the 8,000s overnight, but the number of people with COVID in hospital has risen.
WA Health reported 8,777 new COVID cases to 8pm last night, bringing the total number of active cases in the state to 42,613.
There are now 258 people with COVID-19 in hospital, with nine in ICU.
WA recorded 9,314 COVID cases yesterday with 248 people with COVID in hospital and nine in ICU.
Five historical COVID related deaths were reported overnight, being a woman in her 50s, a man in his 60s, a man and woman in their 80s and a woman in her 90s.
The historical deaths date back to April 15 but were only reported yesterday.
Premier Mark McGowan is among today’s figures as he announced this morning he had tested positive for COVID-19.
