Vmoto is to enter the Americas market, achieving certification in Costa Rica for its all-wheel drive utility vehicle.
The announcement is below:
Vmoto Limited ("Vmoto" or "the Company") is pleased to announce that its proprietary designed Scartt 500 cc AWD utility vehicle has passed the Revision Tecnica De Vehiculos (RiTeVe) Certification in Costa Rica, certifying this vehicle for road use in Costa Rica and opening the door for the vehicle to be registrable for road usage throughout most of the Americas.
Under the RiTeVe certification, considered to be one of the toughest in the world to achieve, the Scartt now has homologation for road registration in Costa Rica. As Costa Rica has the strictest homologation standards in the Americas, it is generally accepted that licensing within the surrounding countries will also be achieved with little amendment.
Compliance Certification was carried out by the exclusive distributor of the Scartt for Costa Rica, Swampbusters SA, who is one of Costa Rica's largest distributors of all terrain vehicles.
The fully enclosed AWD vehicle market is the fastest growing segment of the world motorcycle industry and is expected to continue to grow as AWD's are safer to operate than traditional ATVs and have huge fuel consumption advantages over larger AWD vehicles.
In addition to the recent success in Costa Rica, Vmoto has also recently secured an order of 12 sample units for trial in the Middle East, subsequent to success of initial testing of samples by prospective distributors in this region.
Mr Carlos Sotelo, Director of European operations for Vmoto and designer of the Scartt, has recently moved to China and Vmoto's Nanjing manufacturing facility on a semi permanent basis to personally oversee the development of the production lines for the Scartt. It is expected that large scale production numbers will be made available late in the September quarter 2009.
Vmoto's Managing Director, Mr Patrick Davin, commented "This is another significant step in Vmoto's ongoing development and fits in perfectly alongside our existing scooter manufacturing operations as another exclusive and unique Vmoto product to be offered to the world wide markets. As the designer of the Scartt from its inception, Carlos Sotelo deserves congratulations, together with Erik Dannau of Swampbusters who achieved the recent RiTeVe certification. The Scartt is the most expensive vehicle developed and produced by the Company and, with the current interest that is being shown by customers, will provide a significant revenue stream for Vmoto Limited."
