Vincent, Water Corporation join forces

THE Town of Vincent and the Water Corporation have joined forces to resolve recurring drainage problems.

If successful, the Water Corporation will adopt similar partnerships with other local governments.

The partnership is expected to yield a plan for the Claisebrook catchment taking into account proposed rezoning and development there.

Vincent Mayor John Hyde said some residents were unfortunately too aware of the flooding that occurred after heavy rainfall.

The most recent example was on January 22 when a heavy storm dumped a huge volume of rain on Perth. This, coupled with continuing development in Vincent, makes a review necessary, Mr Hyde says.

Water Corporation acting general manager customer services Graham Cargeeg said Vincent’s drainage system had to be reviewed to ensure it complied with Australian Rainfall and Runoff Guidelines.
