Equipment hire contractor Viento Group has secured a $7 million contract with Rio Tinto for repair works to the Dampier Salt facility at Port Hedland which was damaged over cyclone season.
Viento said that its joint venture with indigenous-owned crane and lighting tower contractor Koodaideri had won the works package, which will commence in early August.
The project is expected to run for between nine and 12 months.
The Viento-Koodaideri joint venture was established in January, while the Dampier Salt deal is the first contract to be won under the arrangement.
The contract win adds to a number of recent successes for Viento Group, which announced a $900,000 pipeline relocation deal with Monadelphous at Port Hedland last week.
The works will be undertaken by Viento subsidiary Viento Contracting Services.
Viento also announced last week that its subsidiary Mineworks Group extended its equipment hire contract with Ansaldo STS from $5 million to $8.2 million.
At close of trade today, Viento’s stock was up 12 per cent.
