AN interesting invitation came across The Note’s desk this week to a literary lunch, where author Maggie Hamilton would be speaking about her latest tome, What Men Don’t Talk About. The book reportedly “takes the reader far beyond the many stereotypes of men, and reveals how real men and boys view their world”, according to the PR blurb. Non-profit group Westcare Industries, alongside Penguin Australia and Dymocks Garden City, are hosting the lunch at the Hyatt on August 3, followed by a breakfast the next day. Ms Hamilton is an experienced social observer and commentator and plans to offer some answers to the questions women have always pondered, such as: what motivates men? what do they look for in a woman? what do men worry about? what is life like for them when they age? why are men often silent in dark and difficult situations? and why do so many find it hard to express how much they care? After a quick internet search, The Note discovered that Ms Hamilton has, in the past, worked on a women’s history project for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and, among others, has written a children’s book called Mister Eternity.
