VDM Group announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Wylie & Skene Pty Ltd, has been awarded a $17 million contract by China Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC) to install an additional 700 man camp at Cape Preston.
The development, which will accommodate construction workers for the Sino Iron project, is a key component in the overall development of the site and represents Stage 2 of a fourstaged accommodation construction program.
The contract will commence immediately, being effectively an extension of the Stage 1 contract, and is expected to be completed by July 2009.
VDM Construction chief operating officer Mark Nagle said: Wylie & Skene was currently constructing stage 1 of the Cape Preston village, which incorporated all central facilities and the first 600 rooms.
"Stage 1 is due for completion in April 2009 and the award oftStage 2 will allow Wylie & Skene to continue on with the works seamlessly. Throughout Stage 1, the management of MCC and Wylie & Skene have worked closely with each other to enable the contract to be finished on time," Mr Nagle said.
