The state government has committed $10.5 million to upgrade facilities at Barbagallo Raceway to bring the V8 Supercars Championship back to Perth for the next five years.
Premier Colin Barnett said he was determined to see the event return to Perth.
"Tourism WA through Eventscorp, the Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR) and V8 Supercars Australia (V8SCA) have worked closely with the West Australia Sporting Car Club (WASCC) to return this popular event to Western Australia," Mr Barnett said.
"The State Government funding of $10.5 million will ensure the venue is suitable for local motor sport all year round and that it is ready to host the 70,000 local, interstate and overseas guests expected to attend the 2011 V8 Supercars Championship Series."
Tourism Minister Liz Constable said Eventscorp had undertaken a new partnership with V8SCA and the WASCC to bring the event back to Perth.
"This partnership not only brings the event back to Perth, it also allows Eventscorp to utilise its expertise in marketing to help promote the event locally, nationally and internationally and significantly elevate the race weekend program," Dr Constable said.
Sport and Recreation Minister Terry Waldron said DSR, WASCC and V8SCA had collaborated to work on the upgrades to Barbagallo Raceway.
"This extra funding will fast track Stage Two of the development of Barbagallo Raceway and provide a key addition to WA's sporting infrastructure," Mr Waldron said.
"Stage One addressed the safety issues associated with the track and pits, Stage Two will provide a new hard stand; back-of-house services; corporate and race control facilities; medical facilities and communications infrastructure to deliver increased amenity for all motor sports in Western Australia."
The date of the event for 2011 has yet to be determined.
