The booming uranium sector heped the state's listed companies continue to outstrip their national counterparts, adding 4 per cent or $4.6 billion to their market value last month, as measured by the Deloitte WA Index.
Below is a release from Deloitte:
WA companies continued their strong growth in November, with the market value of companies in the Deloitte WA Index climbing by more than 4 per cent from last month, and continuing to outstrip national and international indexes.
Lead by growth in uranium and other commodity based companies, the market capitalisation of the Index increased by $4.6 billion to $116 billion from October to November.
Deloitte Managing Partner WA, Keith Jones, said the Index value had increased by more than 12.7% in the past two months, and by 40% in the past twelve months. In comparison, increases during the past year for other indices included the All Ordinaries by 19%, US S&P 500 by 11% and the FTSE 100 and Nikkei both by 10%.
"In the past year the index has only dropped month on month three times, and as we head toward the end of the year, it has really spiked quite sharply. The results for November show the resources momentum has continued, with much of this month's growth being driven from this sector, with notable strength in uranium," Mr Jones said.
The movers and shakers from November were AIM Resources Limited increasing by 136% ($141 million), Deep Yellow Limited by 96% ($332 million), Kings Minerals NL by 96 % ($66 million), Mt Gibson Iron Limited by 54% ($173 million) and Summit Resources by 24% ($104 million).
In the commodities market, silver and uranium both increased by more than 13% with an average increase in commodity prices in November of 6%. The only commodity price declines noted were that of copper and aluminium, which dropped by an average of 5%.
The monthly increase of 4.12% for the Index again out-performed national and international indexes, with the All Ordinaries and US S&P 500 indices, up by 2.03% and 1.56% respectively. The FTSE 100 and Nikkei were down by 0.61% and 0.76% respectively
