WESTERN Australia’s unemployment rate is the lowest it has been for 14 years, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
The ABS figures show that WA’s jobless rate is 5.4 per cent, equal to its previous low rate of 1989.
That figure was well below the national unemployment rate of 6.2 per cent.
Meanwhile, a recent ANZ job survey showed the number of job advertisements in the State was at its highest in 33 months.
WA Premier Geoff Gallop said that, during the 12 months to March, employment grew by 2.3 per cent, better than the Treasury’s December forecast of 2 per cent growth.
