Trust exists: PCC told

MINISTRY for Culture & the Arts director general Ricky Burges has assured the Perth City Council the Perth Theatre Trust did exist.

At its 22 June meeting, the PCC said the theatre trust could not sign a lease for the Perth Concert Hall because it was not sure the prospective lessee actually existed.

“The Perth Theatre Trust is a service agency of the Ministry which was established in July 1997 under the Public Sector Management Act. It exists as a separate entity until the Culture, Libraries and the Arts Bill 1998 comes into effect,” Ms Burges said.

“Once the legislation has been enacted, the Perth Theatre Trust will be absorbed by the Ministry and the Arts Minister will become the body corporate and the lessee,” she said.
