EXPLORATION focussed on the Sandstone greenstone belt by Troy Resources NL is producing spectacular results which could broaden the gold miner’s horizons.
RC drilling to date, centred on the Sandstone mill and Bulchina open pit area, has produced encouraging results, according to Troy executive chairman John Jones.
“These results indicate significant potential to add to the current reserves and have led to follow-up drilling,” he said.
Better intercepts from this ongoing work include 22 metres grading at 6.84 grams/tonne gold from 67m, 12m at 8.81g/t from 56m, 10m at 5.82g/t from lm, 6m at 101.77g/t from 40m, 4m at 15.35g/t from 18m and 5m at 8.40g/t from 79m.
Results of air core drilling along the Bulchina trend, comprising some sixty-five holes for 4,466m, indicate that the Bulchina trend is still present as a wide (150m) gold and arsenic anomalous shear zone along a felsic intrusive/ ultramafic contact, some 800m south of the current pit.
“Although the gold intersections to date are generally low grade as indicated by the air core drilling in the Bulchina South area, the width of alteration and mineralisation and high arsenic levels indicate a strong mineralised system,” Mr Jones said.
RAB drilling completed along the interpreted strike extension of the Bulchina trend, one to two kilometres south of Bulchina mine at the Lone Tree prospect, produced no significant intersections.
