COUNCIL has committed $4.11 million to the refurbishment of the Perth Town Hall.
Councillor Michael Sutherland said it was essential works started as soon as possible so it could “service the hotel going into the old State Treasury building site”.
Councillor Laurance Goodman said he usually had strong reservations about forward spending money.
Council has allocated $2.5 million from its future budgets to the project.
“However, I believe it is essential to do these works,” Mr Goodman said.
“We can’t turn the clock back.”
The refurbishment of the Perth Town Hall will help create a historical precinct together with the soon to be refurbished State Treasury Building and Proclamation Park.
