Tourism awards
Nominations for the 2004 Western Australian Tourism Awards close at 5pm tomorrow, Friday July 2.
Once nominated, entrants do not have to have entries in until August 31.
Conducted by the Tourism Council of WA, the awards recognise excellence in product, service, marketing, financial management, environmental sustainability, and visitor experience in 27 different categories.
TCWA president Ron Buckey said tourism was the second main economic driver for the State, and the awards challenged industry to continually evolve and mature.
Paul King of Seashells Hospitality Group said that, following a win in the deluxe accommodation category, Seashells had experienced a significant surge in enquiries and visitors from all over Australia.
“It also gives you the opportunity to work on and improve your business – it teaches you a lot about your business when you have to examine it for the submission,” Mr King said.
