Mr Walsh replaces Des Kelly who steps down as company secretary, also effective 6 June 2006.
The appointment represents Mr Walsh's first move as an independent corporate consultant following his recently announced departure from the ASX.
Mr Walsh - a Chartered Accountant who holds a BCom and MBA - has spent the past 14 years as listings manager at the ASX, providing expert ASX Listing Rules advice to Perth-based listed companies and facilitating new listing applications.
Over this period, he has overseen the listing of some 500 IPO's and over 200 'backdoor' listings, as well as providing corporate governance training and advice to financial advisers, professional institutions, boards of directors and company secretaries.
At 1130 WST, shares in Bass Metals were up 2 cents to 24 cents.

Emerging resources company Bass Metals Ltd has added significant weight to its corporate management team, securing the high-profile appointment of the former long-serving Perth Listings Manager for the Australian Stock Exchange, Mr Tony Walsh, as its new Company Secretary, effective from 6 June 2006.
The appointment - which represents Mr Walsh's first move as an independent corporate consultant following his recently announced departure from the ASX - adds further depth to Bass Metals' senior management group as it moves to the next level of growth with its gold and base metal project portfolio in Tasmania.
Mr Walsh - a Chartered Accountant who holds a BCom and MBA - brings significant corporate and financial management experience to the Company, having spent the past 14 years as Listings Manager at the Australian Stock Exchange, providing expert ASX Listing Rules advice to Perth-based listed companies and facilitating new listing applications.
