Former Mount Gibson Iron chief executive Luke Tonkin is taking the helm of gold hopeful Reed Resources.
Reed, which is ramping up its Meekatharra gold project to production by the December quarter, announced today that Mr Tonkin would take on the role of managing director.
Reed Resources' incumbent managing director, Chris Reed, will remain as executive director, with a specific focus on business development, the company said.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Luke to Reed Resources’ executive team,” Reed chairman David Reed said.
“His operational and corporate expertise, combined with extensive project development experience will be a key asset for the Company as we continue to move ahead with the development of our flagship Meekatharra gold project.
“Building up the executive team will ensure the Meekatharra project is adequately resourced and also allow Chris to focus on the development of the non-gold assets and the most appropriate methodology for delivering value to shareholders.”
Mr Tonkin made a shock exit from Mount Gibson in November, one day after being praised for his operational performance by the company's chairman, Geoff Hill, at its annual general meeting.
