All three remaining applicants have submitted their detailed proposals to build the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The three applicants are Leighton Contractors, the Multiplex Consortium of Multiplex Constructions and Accor Asia Pacific and the Nexus Consortium of Lend Lease Corporation, John Holland Group, the Seven Network and Compass/Eurest Australian/Convex WA.
As yet, no details have been released about the preferred site for the centre.
The meetings and incentive industry, the Perth City Council and the majority of Northbridge businesses are plumping for a site over the Perth to Fremantle railway line to the west of the Perth Entertainment Centre.
It is believed placing the centre there would involved sinking the railway line and again rejoin Northbridge with the CBD.
The only other site on the cards is the Perth Busport car park. While this provides a near-river aspect, many believe it will prove unsuccessful.
Placing the centre on the busport would also deny Perth commuters 1,340 well-patronised parking bays.
The list of three will be whittled down to two by January. A decision on the successful tenderer is expected in April.
