Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan has announced three new appointments to the Western Australian Planning Commission.
Mike Hulme was appointed as the representative of the urban development industry.
Ms MacTiernan said Mr Hulme's commercial business background and track record in sustainable developments would make him a valuable asset to the Commission.
"Mr Hulme brings with him a great deal of experience in the design and development of sustainable settlements," she said.
"I expect him to push the envelope in terms of sustainable development initiatives undertaken by the WAPC."
Ms MacTiernan also announced the appointment of Dorte Ekelund as her planning representative from the portfolio agencies.
Ms Ekelund is the new Deputy Director General of the Department for Planning and Infrastructure, having previously been the Deputy Chief Planning Executive for the ACT Planning and Land Authority.
Veronica Fleay was appointed to represent the interests of Regional WA on the Commission.
Dr David Wood, coast planning representative, and Dr Carey Curtis, sustainability representative, were both reappointed to the Commission.
Mr Hulme, Mrs Fleay, Dr Wood and Ms Ekelund have been appointed for a term ending December 31, 2008. Dr Curtis was appointed until December 31, 2007.
Ms MacTiernan paid tribute to retiring WAPC member Luke Saraceni who is now focussing on new developments and other business activities.
"I would like to thank Mr Saraceni for his work on the WAPC over the past couple of years, particularly for adding real value the Commission's deliberations and policy settings," she said.
