West Australian businesses Navitas, Epichem and Matrix Composites and Engineering are among 12 winners at the Australian Export Awards.
Murdoch-based Epichem has won the Small Business Award.
The contract drug discovery company was founded by two WA scientists seven years ago.
It now exports to 18 countries.
Epicham uses its expertise in synthetic and medicinal chemistry to deliver tailor-made products and services for customers and generate valuable intellectual property.
"I want to congratulate Epichem on this win and commend it for its innovations, both in the laboratory and in the global marketplace," said Small Business Minister Nick Sherry.
"The company has been recognised for its clear international marketing strategy and the strength of its relationships with research institutes and international drug companies."
It's the first time Epichem has entered the awards program.
Managing director, Wayne Best received the award from Trade Minister Craig Emerson.
"This is such a high level of recognition of our work from our small but highly effective team," said Dr Best.
"We were still very excited about our other recent win of the WA Exporter of the Year. Our work mainly involves discovering new medicines and ensuring their quality worldwide," he said.
Epichem was one of 12 Award winners at the ceremony held at Sydney Town Hall.
Meanwhile, Global education provider Navitas won the 2010 National Education and Training Export Award for outstanding innovation and export achievement in the field of education and training services.
Navitas progressed to the national awards after winning the WA Education and Training Export award in October.
As Australia's third largest export international education plays a vital role in Australia's economy generating over $18 billion in 2009 alone said Rod Jones, CEO of Navitas.
"With 30 colleges across Australia and in the UK, US, Canada, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Kenya we are a proudly Australian company and we believe our commitment to quality outcomes for our students and partners reflects well on our reputation and Australia's," said Mr Jones.
