There is absolutely no question that we are working as unpaid tax collectors for the ATO. In addition to this we are also acting as bankers to big business clients. Receivables continue to stretch out and the ATO's response is to get heavy with their unpaid tax collectors. The tax compliance burden and associated cashflow issues and penalty interest imposed by the ATO are the biggest threat to the viability of most small businesses. No need for tax concessions, just collect your own tax and leave small business owners to get on with actually running their businesses!
