TRAVEL TALK with
Rod Jones
Navitas CEO, managing director
Favourite holiday destination?
Yallingup, a beautiful place and an opportunity to relax in great surroundings.
Where’s the best place in Perth to take out-of-towners?
Jackson’s; good food and a great wine list.
What has been your biggest travel disaster and what did you learn from it?
Getting stuck in a three-and-a-half hour traffic jam in Bangkok and subsequently missing my flight and a very important meeting. I learned to always allow enough time to catch my flights and to never underestimate Bangkok.
What is your pet hate when travelling on airplanes?
Crying babies and loud conversations on overnight flights.
How often do you travel? Is it usually for business or pleasure?
We have operations on the east coast and overseas so I travel up to three times a month for business.
What’s always in your carry-on luggage?
My laptop, a good book and my iPod.
Where have you always wanted to travel/holiday but haven’t managed to yet?
Egypt. I have always dreamed of seeing the pyramids and sailing down the Nile. I will get there one day.
What was the last book you read?
How the mighty fall and why some companies never give in,
by Jim Collins.
