The Fiona Hogg-designed Coco Eco house in Broome is located in a pristine natural habitat and is totally ecologically sustainable.
The house is fully solar powered, all waste is treated on site without the aid of chemicals, and all aspects of climate, solar heat gain, ventilation and the choice of materials have been carefully considered.
“This building finds a resting place within an existing elevated clearing with strong visual connections to the tidal lagoon and ocean beyond to the west,” Ms Hogg said.
“The project consists of a series of pavilions stretching along an east-west axis ‘marcated’ by the rich ‘pindan’ red dirt rendered masonry spine that separates and connects the public and more private living pavilions while bringing the texture and colour of the site to the interior.”
