Stati Group of Companies this week wrapped up a public environmental review for The Track, a multipurpose motorsport facility at Keysbrook in the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale which has been on the boil since 2018.
Plans for the track include a 3.5-kilometre racecourse, go kart track, car storage facilities, and capacity to accommodate 25,000 spectators.
Stati envisages professional and amateur car and motorbike events, go-kart racing, rally championships and driver education as primary users of the facility.
The Asia Le Mans, World Rally Championship, and Formula Drift Asia are among target events for The Track.
English track designer Apex has drawn up the facility and Perth-based Allerding and Associates is doing the planning legwork.
“Keysbrook will be an exciting addition to complement and promote the Motorsports Industry in Western Australia,” Allerding and Associates planning director Steve Allerding said.
“On a day-to-day basis Keysbrook will provide a venue that will accommodate advanced driver training and education, recreational track use, vehicle testing and manufacturers days, but it is a venue that has also been designed to accommodate accredited local, national and international race events.”
Stati Group’s development portfolio to date includes suburban shopping centres, apartment complexes, and office suites.
The facility was first submitted to the Environmental Protection Authority in 2020 and will, once environmental approvals are gained, be brought back to the State Development Assessment Unit for final consideration.
Stati has estimated The Track would generate $45 million in economic output per year in Serpentine-Jarrahdale and attract 170,000 visitors.
WA Labor last week announced it would build a $217m entertainment precinct with a street racing circuit in Burswood if re-elected at the March state election.
