Stand ground

Congratulations to Colin Barnett (Resource Development Minister) for speaking out against the latest proposed Shell takeover of Woodside.

It is refreshing to have a Minister making a stand against a multinational when they are threatening the national interest. Let’s hope the Foreign Investment Review Board and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission take the same view.

Just last week we saw BP telling Richard Court that if he did not like the way they chose to play the game they would pick up their bat and ball and go home.

We need more politicians to stand up for the good of Australian, perhaps then we will be able to leave future generations a valuable legacy instead of a hole in the ground and an unserviceable national debt.
