Former Woodside Petroleum Ltd director and State Training Council chairman Keith Spence has been appointed as a non-executive director at Clough Ltd.
In a statement today, Clough said Mr Spence's appointment was effective from August 1.
Mr Spence recently retired from Woodside after his 14 year tenure in top executive positions where he was most recently the executive vice president enterprise capability for Woodside and in that role was responsible for ensuring the business operated with the best people technology and processes.
He was also responsible for building a skilled and technologically advanced workforce through targeted recruiting and enhanced training and played a key role in representing Woodside's interests to the government and the public. In addition, he was responsible for Woodside's Western Australian gas supply interests.
Mr Spence held many roles during his period with Woodside, including Chief Operating Officer, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Director - Oil Business Unit, Director - Northern Business Unit and Exploration Manager - North West Shelf.
He has gained a broad industry knowledge having over 30 years experience in the oil and gas industry that has included 18 years with Shell.
Mr Spence is Chairman of the State Training Board, the Advisory Board of the Australian Centre for Energy and Process Training (ACEPT) and the WA Energy Research Alliance Industry Advisory Group (WA ERA). He is a Board member of Skills Australia, and the Australian Institute of Management (WA).
He is a member of the Chamber of Minerals & Energy Executive Council and Management Committee, a member of the Curtin Council and Curtin Finance Committee.
Mr Spence graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Science in Geophysics (First Class Hons) and is married with two adult children.
"Keith's broad and significant knowledge in the oil and gas industry is highly valued by Clough, particularly given that this is a key focus in our company strategy. We welcome him to our Board," said Clough chairman Mike Harding said.
